Dima Ustinov
Listening rituals · Music journeys · Berlin
Dima Ustinov creates music journeys: something between a concert and a sound bath.
Fluid live music for piano and electronics, open to improvisation and drifting into sound exploration. Listeners are free to sit or lie down, close their eyes and listen with the whole body. Each journey is one continuous arc, from an opening moment of tuning in to the silence after the last note.
The special sound system is built on membrane speakers that diffuse sound through the room and bring it back to physical presence. There is no point of origin: the music is everywhere at once.
The aim is not entertainment but a change of state. The work leads toward the silence that follows it. Sometimes that silence lasts five minutes, sometimes twenty.
